The objective of this research was based on analyzing the main renewable alternatives available in the region: solar, wind, biogas, wood, and biodiesel; under a methodology based on documentary or bibliographic review, case studies, technical analysis and impact evaluations, through a type of positivist research where the descriptive and analytical method was used, in which specific opportunities and challenges of these technologies were identified in the Manabí context. The results show that a well-structured implementation strategy could transform Manabí into a model of sustainable energy development, improving the quality of life of its communities and protecting its environment.
2025-01-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 International journal of engineering and computer science https://sloap.org/journal/index.php/ijecs/article/view/2371 Independent power system for traffic lights through solar energy in Ecuador-Manabí-Portoviejo 2025-03-02T22:43:07+00:00 Jiorge Rolando Moreira-Mendoza jrolando160899@gmail.com María Rodríguez-Gámez maria.rodriguez@utm.ed.ec Andy Ariel Guerrero-Vélez andyguerrero399@gmail.com Jorge Daniel Mercado-Bautista jorge.mercado@utelvt.edu.ec Andrés Marcelo Hernández-Bazurto hernandezmarcelo040199@gmail.com
The need for sustainability solutions promotes the use of renewable and distributed energy sources in urban and rural applications, the energy situation in Ecuador promotes the search for alternatives for the energization of traffic lights in urban areas, the objective of the research was to analyze and design an autonomous power system for traffic lights using solar energy. It was used as an investigative, descriptive and analytical methodology. The result was that solar energy can be used to power traffic lights, guaranteeing greater autonomy and reduction in maintenance costs. Furthermore, the implementation of this technology in urban areas could be an efficient and sustainable alternative to conventional systems that depend on the electrical grid.
2025-03-02T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 International journal of engineering and computer science
