The psychoanalytical reading of some selected poems of robert browning

Abstract

The main aim of writing this paper has been to produce unique, insightful interpretations of a few select poems of Robert Browning that shed more light on Browning’s writing style keeps the psychoanalytical theories in mind. The paper includes an introduction to Browning’s writing style and Browning as a poet. Consecutively, the paper proceeds with the interpretation of the poems, which have been divided into two categories for a focused analysis. The first group contains poems that were published in a collection called ‘Dramatic Romances’ (1842) and the second group contains poems that were published in a collection called ‘Dramatis Personae’(1864).
