Abstract

A diagnostic study carried out in the third year of Basic Education in the Jeremías Velásquez Educational Unit of the Chone canton about reading and the use of literary corners for its development, showed that there are problems in the development of reading in students, specifically in the determination of main ideas, secondary ideas, in the understanding of messages and the motivation towards it. Furthermore, the study also revealed that the literary corners established for this purpose are not used adequately for pedagogical practice. Based on the above, the objective of this work is to develop a didactic strategy to promote reading from literary corners in the third year of Basic Education of the Jeremías Velásquez Educational Unit of the Chone canton.  The methodology followed is a mixed approach, and the sample consisted of a total of 25 students from the third year of Basic Education, 17 parents, and nine teachers. Through the socialization workshops, the feasibility and objectivity of the practical implementation of the proposal were demonstrated.
